Ann Curry

Ann Curry has worked as a journalist for 45 years. Her focus is on natural disasters and war zones. Curry covered the conflicts that raged in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19th 1956, Agana American journalist and TV anchor and news reporter. She is most famous for her work as a correspondent for the Today program, which was a morning news show that was telecast through the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry gained notoriety for her coverage of catastrophes caused by natural causes and humanitarian crises which occurred in war-ravaged areas. Curry was born in Japan and brought up by a Japanese mom. Her father served as an U.S. Navy sailor. Her parents met while their father was in Japan after World War II. As a result of her father's military service the family moved quite a lot. Curry attended high school in the city of Ashland, Oregon. She graduated with a journalism certificate in 1978 from The University of Oregon in 1978. The exposure she received to different cultures and environments throughout her childhood probably contributed to her empathy with which she approaches global issues. Curry did not have the opportunity to go to a single school in the cities of San Diego, Alameda Oregon or Virginia during the two-year period because her family moved often. Ashland, Oregon is the school where Curry earned her diploma. She paved her way for an enviable career after she began her career in broadcasting by working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon. She later became the first news reporter female at the station at the aged of just 22. She subsequently moved to the position of an anchor and reporter for KGW which was an NBC station in Portland, Oregan. The following year, she relocated back to Los Angeles as a reporter for KBS-TV. During her six-year association with the channel she received 2 Emmy Awards.
